Today was really something completely different. Not only has it been four months with no gigs, but this is the first time I got to witness an artist’s recording process first hand. At Cam and his manager’s invitation, I joined them for a day during which Cam was laying down guitar tracks for his second album.
It was also my first time shooting on a socially distanced basis, so I basically had to have eyes in the back of my head even though the only people there were me, Markus, Cam and the sound engineer. The engineer’s booth was surprisingly small and crammed full of equipment. I spent a fair amount of time there but also went in to the recording studio with Cam to get shots of him laying down his guitar parts. The hope was to capture some of the magic of that day, and even Doris, the studio cat, got in on the action!
