I’m sure this is a show that will go down in history. Their first in the UK for 5 years and one of only 5 shows celebrating a crazy 50 years as a band. As we didn’t know where we were shooting from I came with everything from a 14-24mm to a 500mm lens! In the end we had an amazing spot – inside the back of the ‘tongue pit’ – the standing area inside the stage that people had paid £1000’s to be in. The two songs were over in a (jumping jack – sorry!) flash and all in all it was surprisingly hard to shoot but what a show!!
As I’d arranged this pass directly with the band, I was shooting the whole show. Mind you, that didn’t stop me having the wrong pass and security having to double check with the production office with moments to spare. Typical! The show was mad and I was still sharing the pit with 3 videographers and another photographer, and towards the end about 30 over excited rock chicks who got on stage for one of the songs, so it was hectic. Mind you, how can you not leave a Steel Panther show with great shots and a huge grin on your face!?
