So I may have to start a campaign to get Brian May and Roger Taylor to tour again with Adam Lambert. As one of those a little sceptical about Paul Rodgers as their previous vocalist, and not knowing what to expect of an X Factor winner taking his place, I had no idea what a treat I was in for tonight.
Lambert is so much more suited to this gig. He’s like Freddie whilst not trying to be anything like him at all, and the man can sing! It was great to see this show in such a small setting and I only hope that they take the show on tour to bigger venues with him next year.
The day before I was one of millions of photographers invited to photograph the launch of their KISS Monster book. 24 hours later I was also one of seemingly an impossible number of photographers trying to squeeze into the pit at the Forum for their gig.
You literally couldn’t move – it was worse than the Islington Academy gig because their feet were pretty much next to our noses and even on a 14-24mm wide angle lens it was nearly impossible to get them in.
It made what should have been a great gig a terrible gig. They were incredible to shoot last time at Wembley because they were a manageable distance away, but here it just turned into a scrum.
